Etymology
From Ancient Greek ὀνοματοποιία (onomatopoiia, “the coining of a word in imitation of a sound”), from ονοματοποιέω (onomatopoieo, “to coin names”), from ὄνομα (onoma, “name”) + ποιέω (poieo, “to make, to do, to produce”).
